2,400 Yards, 45 TDs, One Ticket to Columbus
Henderson’s track and football prowess at Hopewell High School in Virginia drew interest nationwide. His junior season saw Henderson rip off 2,424 yards and 45 TDs on 198 carries.
That sealed his five-star status. Offers came in from Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and others.
He ultimately chose Columbus, joining a crowded backfied.
From Backup to Breakout: Henderson’s Freshman Explosion
Henderson started his true freshman season behind NFL hopefuls Miyan Williams and Master Teague. But Henderson proved his effectiveness against Oregon, rushing for a TD in the fourth quarter.
He followed that with a 277-yard, 3-TD performance against Tulsa.
That vaulted Henderson to the top of the depth chart for the rest of the season. He totaled 1,255 yards and 15 TDs on the ground -- and got the NFL buzz going.
The Setbacks That Slowed Henderson
Expectations were high for Henderson heading into his second year, but disaster would strike.
He suffered a foot injury in Week 3. Henderson tried to play through it but missed five games overall.
Henderson eventually revealed the severity of the injury, citing torn ligaments and a broken bone that required surgery.
Henderson suffered an undisclosed injury in 2023, which caused him to miss three games. His struggles against better defenses such as Michigan and Missouri, along with his injury history, created questions on his NFL Draft profile.
Sharing the Load, Rebuilding his Draft Stock
Henderson decided to return to Ohio State for his senior season, but the Buckeyes brought in Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins to create a backfield combo for 2024.
Judkins handled more carries (194 to Henderson’s 144) as the between-the-tackles back. Henderson finally stayed healthy, though, and showcased his home run ability throughout the season.
Despite not reaching 100 yards rushing in any game, Henderson showcased his NFL tools.
Ohio State especially promoted his receiving skills for the first time since that freshman year. Henderson generated 27 catches, 284 yards, and a TD.
He also did not fumble the football once in his final three seasons.
Henderson rehabbed his draft stock and now looks likely to go among the top 50 NFL Draft picks.

Henderson’s Hands Will Snag Fantasy Points
An elite receiving back can deliver a gigantic advantage in PPR leagues. Henderson will instantly rank among the best receiving RBs in the league.
He has natural hands and route-running ability, allowing him to even line up out wide.
In addition to catching the ball, Henderson’s high football IQ and ability to take smart angles after the catch make him a nightmare to defend

This screen catch-and-run for a TD broke the game open at the end of the first half.
Henderson smoothly gets out in the flat to make the catch, then uses his vision and athleticism to make the big play.
Reading his blockers and the defenders while taking the best angles to put himself in scoring position was impressive.
His future NFL OC would be stupid not to utilize Henderson in the screen and passing game.
Hit the Edge, Hit the Gas — Henderson Is Gone
Henderson’s 4.43-second 40 time at the Combine proved the film evidence of Henderson’s breakaway speed.
He is always a threat to outrun the defense into the end zone.
Henderson’s 14.5% breakaway rate in 2024 leads all RBs invited to the NFL Combine.
That big-play ability and speed means Henderson will be a threat whenever he touches the ball.

In the playoff game against Oregon, Henderson mastered the outside zone to punish the Ducks.
On this play, he explodes to the outside, reads the defense, and decides against cutting the ball up the field. Instead, he takes the play wide before turning it up, leaving four defenders in his dust.
Micro Movements Make Major Yards in Henderson’s Game
Henderson’s quick-twitch ability creates his elusiveness.
If defenders are slower to react to Henderson, he will blow by them for huge chunks of yardage.

On this run against Penn State, Henderson gets the handoff with the O-line being pushed back into him.
He quickly transitions to the right to get outside and accelerate into the second level of the defense.
Henderson’s small movements and shiftiness on the play help to freeze defenders or put them in a worse position to make a play.
This type of subtle movement can be the difference between a negative run and 10+ yards.
Henderson Struggles When Lanes Disappear
Henderson struggles between the tackles when there's heavy traffic. He lacks the power to move the pile or pick up extra yardage through contact.
This likely restricts him from being anywhere close to a bellcow at the next level.

The initial hole closes up on this play against Penn State, and Henderson bangs into the D-line.
He stays upright, but Henderson ultimately moves laterally against the contact.
A gap-style scheme that asks Henderson for these types of routine runs could limit his output.
TreVeyon Henderson Team Fit: New Orleans Saints
Saints RB Alvin Kamara has been a fantasy stud throughout his career. But he'll turn 30 before the NFL season starts. It's time to find his eventual replacement.
New Saints HC Kellen Moore masterminded the Eagles' Saquon Barkley-led 2024 offense, running the most zone rushing plays in the NFL last season.
That style of play fits Henderson perfectly.
Dynasty Value Conclusion: Draft the Upside, Manage the Risk
Henderson’s skill set gives him loads of fantasy upside. He could become a PPR RB1 with enough opportunities.
Henderson has the makings of a modern NFL back who can outrun NFL defenders and break games open.
If Henderson is drafted to a team that utilizes him creatively and works him into the passing game, he could be an RB1 on dynasty teams for the next five to eight years.
Health will be a risk, but he's worth that risk in rookie drafts.
