Mark Andrews Ready for Opener Following Accident

Ravens TE Mark Andrews returned to the practice field Friday for the first time since what he called an "extremely scary" car accident 16 days earlier, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports. Andrews said he's not dealing with any injury from the incident and is ready to play in the regular-season opener against the Chiefs.

What They're Saying

HC John Harbaugh on Aug. 19, referring to why Andrews wasn't practicing: "Very minor thing. We're not messing with him right now. Don't worry about Mark. He's going to be fine."

Andrews, on Aug. 30, said he was not missing time because of any accident-related injury: "I feel good. I'm ready to move forward from everything that happened. And yeah, my body feels great."

2024 Fantasy Football Impact

Andrews' missed time probably won't be a problem for him. The 29-year-old (on Sept. 6) heads into his seventh season and has returned from significant injuries. We have no reason to disbelieve his or Harbaugh's words that the most recent issue is minor.

That said, Andrews' absence had to mean more reps for third-year TE Isaiah Likely, who drew high praise from Harbaugh earlier in camp.

There's some risk of Likely cutting further into Andrews' role this season. But neither of the past two years has displayed any evidence of Andrews' role shrinking. Likely has been minimally involved whenever the veteran has been healthy.

Rankings Movement

Andrews didn't lose any ground for this absence in our TE rankings, where he has rated as a value vs. ADP all offseason.
