Colts GM Chris Ballard reiterated this week that his team will seek competition for QB Anthony Richardson ahead of the 2025 season. Richardson, of course, opened his second season as Indy's starter, got benched for Joe Flacco, returned to the lineup, and then missed the final two games with a back injury. Indy now seems poised to add stronger competition than Flacco this offseason.
The Bills have announced a four-year extension for WR Khalil Shakir. The pact locks him in through 2029. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Shakir will get "up to" $60.2 million, including $32 million guaranteed.
The Raiders have announced a new deal with S Isaiah Pola-Mao. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports it's a to a two-year deal worth up to $8.45 million. That keeps Pola-Mao from becoming a restricted free agent in March.
The Vikings “do not want to repeat their heavy use of veteran [RB] Aaron Jones,” per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. Jones, 30, set career highs in touches, carries, and snaps in 2024.
The Rams have given QB Matt Stafford permission to gauge trade interest and value from other teams, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Stafford carries a $49.6 million cap number in 2025, but the Rams can save $27 million by trading him in a post-June 1 transaction or $23 million by making him a post-June 1 cut. Stafford, who turned 37 earlier in February, said that he plans to play in 2025, but it's now unclear who he'll be playing for.
The Chargers and DB Elijah Molden have agreed to a three-year, $18.75 million contract extension, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal includes $13.5 million in guarantees.
The Saints have hired Doug Nussmeier as OC. The 54-year-old brings an extensive history with new HC Kellen Moore, working together with the Eagles (QB coach), Chargers (QB coach), and Cowboys (QB/TE coach). Nussmeier hasn’t been a play-caller at the pro level but held OC jobs at Fresno State, Washington, Alabama, Florida, and Michigan. The Saints still have a QB problem to solve, but Nussmeier looks like a qualified candidate to help Moore adjust to his first HC gig.
ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler believes there’s a 75% chance the Jaguars cut WR Christian Kirk. Fowler adds that Kirk’s contract is “reasonable enough that the Jaguars might be able to get something for him in a trade if he’s healthy.” The former Cardinal missed most of 2024 with a collarbone injury. Now, the Jags are ushering in a new HC and GM. Kirk ultimately isn’t someone we’d target in early best ball drafts.
The Eagles named Kevin Patullo their new OC. He replaces Kellen Moore, who took the Saints' HC job earlier this month. Patullo has no play-calling experience at any level but has been with the Eagles since HC Nick Sirianni took over in 2021, serving as passing game coordinator and adding the associate HC title for the past two years. Patullo has been "an integral part of the transition between OCs the past few years and a trusted part of Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. It's a continuity hire by the Eagles. Expect the 2025 offense to look similar to 2024's in terms of play design and run/pass split -- although Patullo's lack of experience adds some downside to the situation.
The Panthers on Tuesday announced a new two-year deal with QB Andy Dalton. It'll reportedly pay him $8 million, with $6 million of that guaranteed and a max value of $10 million. Dalton spent the past two seasons with Carolina, starting six total games.
ESPN’s Jamison Hensley writes that “there’s no question the Ravens would like to retain” LT Ronnie Stanley. However, the 31-year-old (in March) is set to hit free agency after an excellent 2024.
The Bengals plan on placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on WR Tee Higgins, according to Sports Illustrated's James Rapien. The non-exclusive tag allows other teams to negotiate with Higgins. But the Bengals would have the right to match any offer -- and would receive two first-round picks from the acquiring team if Higgins leaves. In other words, Higgins is a heavy favorite to be in Cincinnati in 2025. Rapien adds that the Bengals "plan" to sign Higgins to a long-term deal.
Texans WR Tank Dell has undergone successful surgery to repair the MCL and LCL in his left knee but still needs a second surgery to repair the ACL, insider Aaron Wilson reports. That second procedure will happen soon, per Wilson. We haven't heard a rehab timeline for the December 21 injury, but Wilson writes that Dell's return will "likely" come in 2026. That matches the last report we got on Dell a few days after he went down. He's not worth a pick in early best-ball drafts. We'll keep you updated on his recovery.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow has spoken up since the end of the season about hoping certain teammates get paid this offseason. TE Mike Gesicki, who's set to hit unrestricted free agency in March, has ranked among the teammates Burrow wants to keep around.
Broncos beat writer Nick Kosmider believes TE is the team’s biggest offseason need. In 2024, Denver TEs combined for a league-low 350 yards. Former Saint Adam Trautman led the group with 188 yards in 17 games. Trautman is under contract for 2025, as is TE Nate Adkins. TE Lucas Krull is an exclusive rights free agent, per Spotrac.
The Dolphins will release RB Raheem Mostert, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The move will save Miami a little over $3 million against the 2025 salary cap. Mostert averaged a career-worst 3.3 yards per carry last year and ranked 34th among 51 qualifying RBs in Pro Football Focus rushing grade. He turns 33 in April. Mostert is unlikely to be a fantasy factor in 2025 or beyond. He's cuttable from dynasty rosters.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce admitted on his podcast that he's unsure if he'll continue playing in 2025. “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out,” Kelce said. “And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them." Kelce turned 35 back in October and is coming off his worst season in terms of PPR points per game since 2015. That was still good enough to rank seventh at the position, though. He'd be a good bet for top-10 production if he plays in 2025. But he's a risky pick in early fantasy drafts until we get a decision from him.
Bears reporter Chris Emma believes “it’s reasonable to believe” that TE Cole Kmet “can be a dynamic threat” with new HC Ben Johnson. Emma predicts Kmet will set statistical career highs in 2025.
WR Kadarius Toney was arrested and charged with assault in Georgia last week. According to police documents, Toney allegedly put his hand around a woman's throat and squeezed "with enough force to cause her to be unable to [breathe]." He then took the woman's phone to prevent her from calling authorities. Toney appeared in only three games for the Browns last season, finishing catch-less and getting released in December after muffing a punt. A bust on the field with issues off it, Toney figures to struggle to get another job in the league. He's cuttable in dynasty leagues.
NFL Network reports that Bengals LB Germaine Pratt has requested a trade. Pratt has spent six years with the Bengals, 5.5 of those as a full-time starter. He heads into the final year of his current deal and will turn 29 in May.
